I have found over and over again: There are no mistakes or failures, only opportunities for growth; mistakes are our best teachers!
I call this statement: Dr. Angi’s 4th Law of Self-Empowerment
Babies are notorious for their ability to learn from their mistakes, seemingly without fear, as they take chances touching things and putting things in their mouths. Imagine that, the youngest of us practice this bit of wisdom daily, as they learn to crawl, walk, talk, and poop on their own. Yes, they may have their “accidents”, but it is part of their learning process. In fact, this is part of the learning process of ALL people whether we are young or old. We simply have forgotten this growth mindset as we have become “fixed” in our thinking… what we believe or think we can and cannot do.
It is important to give ourselves permission to make mistakes in order to learn and grow. Let us not ponder the “boo-boo” and “be in a funk” or feel sorry for ourselves. Failure only occurs when we stop trying. Let me repeat that fundamental statement: Failure only occurs when we stop trying.
Let us examine the failure or mistake, change our action, and move forward. We CAN learn from it and grow from the experience. All the mess-ups along with the successes are part of our behavioral modification and educational process. Blunders, bloopers, slip-ups, oversights, lapses, faux pas, muddles, errors, gaffes…all of these are great ways to grow, develop, and evolve.
There are no mistakes/failures, only opportunities for growth; mistakes are our best teachers!
