Laughter… A Mini-Vacation

LAUGHTER is spontaneous fun and a mini-vacation. It can be anything that tickles your heart, as it magically relieves any stress of the moment! Laughter is in fact very good medicine:

  • Laughter relaxes the whole body.
  • Laughter boosts the immune system.
  • Laughter triggers the release of endorphins.
  • Laughter protects the heart.
  • Laughter burns calories.
  • Laughter lightens anger’s heavy load.
  • Laughter may even help you to live longer.

And, there is such a thing as laughter yoga, which also has multiple health benefits. Although laughter cannot be forced upon someone, laughter is contagious.  And,  have you noticed  that everything is funnier when you are NOT allowed to laugh?

Have you ever played the laughing game? It is a game best played when you have at least three or more people in a group. One person just starts with a single, “ha!” The next person adds another and you get, “ha-ha”. You keep this going while each group member adds another “ha!” indefinitely and repeating until there is a roar of laughter, “ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha.” At that point hardly anyone will be able to contain themselves.

Spontaneous, funny moments usually cause laughter. Jokes, puns, riddles and stories with unexpected endings are fabulous ways to encourage laughter. Children and animals are great source of humor. Can you think of any laughable moments? How about recalling a favorite joke, riddle, or pun? Are there any specific times in your life that you can now laugh about? Laughter is good for the heart, body, and soul. And, it makes a great mini-vacation.
