Excited to meet Andy Dooley, Rick and I sprung out of bed with joie de vivre. We quickly gathered our belongings and checked out of that Comfort Inn of Wheat Ridge, Colorado, which did, incidentally, compensate us for not servicing our room the day before. We planned to meet Andy at The Huckleberry in Louisville, Colorado, at 9:30 a.m. It was only 18 miles away and took less than 30 minutes to get there, but because of all the anticipation, it felt much longer.
Once we got to The Huckleberry, we manifested the perfect parking spot directly in front of the restaurant and bakery. We were at the Huckleberry about 15 minutes early, so Rick and I selected a spot outdoors to wait for Andy. The weather was absolutely perfect. Right at 9:30 a.m., Andy came around the corner and immediately recognized me. And, I was over-the-moon thrilled! After greetings and hugs, we ordered breakfast.
We showered each other with gifts and praise. The food at The Huckleberry was fabulous, but paled in comparison to the company. The 70+ minutes we spent together went by way too fast. Andy’s generous and loving spirit will always be remembered. I would encourage anyone reading this to check out Andy’s programs (on-line, face-to-face, and audio), his artwork, and his book.
Before 11:00 a.m., Rick and I were back on the road and headed to Taos, New Mexico, which should have only taken about 4.5 hours…. but I will save that segment of our adventure for tomorrow.
