Fred Rogers of Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood has kept this quote from Saint-Exupéry’s book, The Little Prince in his Neighborhood office, “What is essential is invisible to the eye.” What does that expression mean to you? Each of us brings our own thoughts, beliefs, and experiences to everything we do next.
As I share my thoughts with you, you bring your own belief system, your heart and your spirit into how you interpret them. That is the essential part of you that is invisible to the eye. And what’s more is that essential part of you is what truly enriches those next events in your life beyond measure. The next passage you read, the next lesson you learn, or the next deed you do connects with who you basically are inside to stir your spirit and inspire you. Whether you inspired to do something positive or negative next depends on your past experiences and your current beliefs.
No matter what, each of us has a unique spark inside of us that make us special. And, as Fred Rogers always says, “I like you, just the way you are.” But, it is more important for you to like yourself, just the way you are. You are special…just as you are.
P.S. Today’s image (a mandala) is designed to be a coloring sheet; feel free to download, print, and color it as a way to remind you how special you are.
