Inside, out.

Over the weekend, I had the opportunity to guide one of my friends through a bullying issue; and, as we explored it more, we found one of the best thing to do is to work on our own internal environment before addressing the external situation. Where there was hurt and anger, we examined it in order to reconcile it. Dr. Wayne Dyer maintained “What comes out when life squeezes you? When someone hurts or offends you? If anger, pain and fear come out of you, it’s because that’s what’s inside.”

When we take steps to heal our heart and shift our mindset, then any external pressures and situations become manageable, a lesson, an opportunity, or perhaps even pleasant. This is true for most circumstances. Often we believe that we need to wait for an external situation before we act (on a goal) or feel better. What is an apology or explanation regarding a situation going to do that we cannot already resolve ourselves through forgiveness and compassion?

Additionally, the ideas that a supportive and caring family; an ideal friend, companion, lover, or spouse; the perfectly healthy and fit body, a clean/well-organized home, financial freedom and success, etc. will make us happy are FALSE. The joy comes from within; and, when we have joy in our heart then we are in a better place internally to act externally and ultimately attract better situations into our lives. We need to work inside, out.

P.S. Here is a coloring sheet for you to download, print, and color as a way to empower you and reinforce the concept of inside, out in your life.
