Today is LEAP day, an extra day in the calendar that we get every four years. Why? An extra day was added essentially to align the calendar year with the seasons. Historically, the extra day was added for other reasons; however, the focus of this article is on alignment. Let us take this LEAP day to check in with our goals and align them. Are we where we want to be?
Look back four years ago. Where were you? What were your circumstances? Your health? Your finances? Your state of being? Now, examine your current situation. What have you achieved? How are you different? What is your current state of being?
Now, consider where you would like to be four years from today. Visualize yourself in the future. What can you achieve in four years? What will you look like? Where will you live? What will you be doing? Create LEAP day goals by:
Listening to your heart.
Exploring every possibility.
Aiming high; aspiring big!
Proclaiming them in writing.
After you write down your goals or what your future will look like in four years, put them away. If you like, create a “vision board” (a collage of images and words that represent your future). Since these are long term aspirations, only view them a couple times a year or less. I plan to stow my LEAP goals away into a time capsule that will not be opened until LEAP day 2020. I also intend to make my aims huge. It will be fun to see how close I get to them when I revisit my LEAP goals in 2020, when I realign my goals, again. Are you ready to make a LEAP?
