What is perfectionism, really? It is a disguise, a mask. Perfectionism is a cloak that hides our self-perceived flaws. It is a fear…a fear of not being good enough. It is a fear that our authentic selves will not be accepted. Imagine how our lives would be when we let go of this mask.
Releasing our fear of rejection would be liberating and empowering. We could simply be ourselves and do everything we want without fear. So, what if it is not perfect? Fear not! Just do it! Just be yourself, because you are already perfect just as you are; and, you do not have to prove your worth to anyone. Dr. Seuss wisely articulated, “Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.”
